This Privacy Policy describes how Bookhead, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you use Printer at printer.bookhead.net, our Canva app, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
1. Services We Provide
Printer is a print-on-demand platform that enables authors, publishers, and creators to sell printed magazines, zines, and chapbooks. Our Services include a Canva app that connects Substack and RSS content for magazine design, a PDF upload and storefront tool, print fulfillment via Lulu, and payment processing via Stripe Connect.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create a Printer account, we collect:
- Name and email address
- Login credentials
- Stripe Connect account information (for payouts)
2.2 Content You Provide
When you use Printer to create and sell publications, we process:
- Substack URLs and RSS feed URLs you connect
- Post content fetched from those feeds (titles, text, images, dates, bylines)
- PDF files you upload (interior and cover)
- Publication metadata you enter (title, description, pricing)
2.3 Canva App
When you use the Printer Canva app, we access Substack and RSS content based on URLs you provide. This content is made available as data fields within Canva's editor. We do not access your Canva account data, designs, or files. The Canva app processes your feed content solely to display it within the Canva editing environment.
2.4 Buyer Information
When a reader purchases a publication through a Printer storefront, we process:
- Name and email address
- Shipping address
- Order details (items, quantities, totals)
Payment information is collected and processed directly by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers.
2.5 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit our website or use our Services, we automatically collect:
- IP address, browser type, and operating system
- Pages visited, referring URLs, and interaction data
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 6)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Providing our Services: Creating publications, managing storefronts, processing orders, fulfilling print jobs via Lulu, and processing payouts via Stripe Connect
- Account management: Creating and maintaining your account and communicating with you about your publications and orders
- Improving our Services: Analyzing usage patterns, diagnosing technical issues, and developing new features
- Customer support: Responding to inquiries and troubleshooting issues
- Legal compliance: Meeting our obligations under applicable laws and regulations
We do not use buyer personal data for marketing, advertising, or profiling. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.
4. How We Share Your Information
4.1 Print Fulfillment
When an order is placed, we share the buyer's name, shipping address, and order details with Lulu for printing and shipping. Lulu processes this data under their own privacy policy.
4.2 Payment Processing
Payments are processed through Stripe and Stripe Connect. Seller payouts are managed through Stripe Connect. Stripe processes personal and financial data under their own privacy policy.

4.4 Legal Requirements

4.5 Business Transfers
If Bookhead is acquired, merged, or sells substantially all of its assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify affected users of any such change.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL), encryption at rest, access controls limited to authorized personnel, and secure API key management. We maintain a security incident response policy and will notify affected parties in the event of a data breach in accordance with applicable law.
6. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for:
- Essential cookies: Required for the website and Services to function (session management, authentication)
- Analytics cookies: Used to understand how visitors interact with our website (Google Analytics)
We do not use advertising or behavioral targeting cookies.

- Account data: Retained for the duration of your account and for up to 12 months following account deletion
- Buyer data (order and shipping records): Retained for the duration of the seller's account. Upon seller account deletion, buyer data is deleted within 30 days
- Uploaded PDFs and generated content: Retained for the duration of your account. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- Automatically collected data: Retained for up to 24 months
- Billing records: Retained for up to 7 years as required for tax and accounting compliance

8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data
- Portability: Request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Objection / Opt-out: Object to certain processing of your data

8.1 For Buyers
If you purchased a publication through a Printer storefront, you may contact us directly at [email protected] to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.
9. International Data Transfers
Bookhead is based in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your personal data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. We take appropriate safeguards to ensure your data is protected in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
10. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child, we will delete it promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated policy will be posted on this page with the revised "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of our Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
